to make 2 beamed 16th grace notes with a slash / slur over 2 notes
Reported by Archee | October 11th, 2009 @ 09:17 PM | in 1.14
Hi Csaba,
I have asked for this awhile back and find again that it is
needed in one of Guru's very 1st songs written 'Jago'.
I am sending a pdf to show what is needed.
Gratitude,
Archee

This has now come up in another song that from Garden of Love Light I.
Sri Chinmoy's first songs were more intricate and complex. -

There are now many more songs I have found needing beamed 16th grace notes with a slash through the stem.

Hi Csaba - I'm just adding 2 things: That these subtle grace notes are needed - if we were to write out normal notes for the grace notes, it would take from the note they are going to, and that is a completely different sound and rhythm and doesn't represent what Guru did. Also, that the slur needed to go from a grace note to a real note should ideally not be as thick as the slur used to tie 2 notes, because the grace note is very small and it would look odd. Thanks!

Hi,
You had asked if 2 or more grace notes ever had more than one syllable.
I had replied that I had never saw it but now
Tanima, found an example of 2 grace notes each with a syllable.Gratitude,

Here's an example of 2 syllables on 2 grace notes ( see line 4, chali) and multiple grace notes groups waiting for beam and slash. "Tamasa Rate"

I would suggest that grace notes are not the correct notation if there are actually two syllables that have to be pronounced and voiced. Could it not be notated as two 32nds instead?
